Abstract

The article reports on the study of frogs of the Eleutherodactylus limbatus group from Cuba concerning molecular diversity, geographic distribution and colour variation. It cites several species that contain Cuban Eleutherodactylus limbatus including E. orientalis, E. limbatus and E. iberia. It notes that several of the said species have contrasting colour patterns with white stripes and bright yellow on a dark dorsum. It mentions that the evolution of contrasting dorsal colour pattern is characterized by homoplasy.
