Abstract

The article focuses on the farming business of dairy farmers Mark and Simone Zillwood at Canvastown in Marlborough, New Zealand. The couple milked 140 cows in their dairy farm for the past four years and have invested in a 1100-square-meter covered feedpad to boost production per cow. Other investments they made in their farm in 2012 are installation of a 90-day effluent pond, a sludge pond, a weeping wall and a Redpath shelter that has a clay base covered by an absorbent organic material.
