Abstract
- The article discusses the need for theater rhetoric based on the concept of speech act theory. The author explores the various models of communication where rhetoric relevant to theater are represented in plays which include the model of verbal interaction and the model of author/audience interaction. The play "Woyzeck" by Georg Büchner and its interpretation by Rina Yerushalmi is illustrated to define theaters' rhetorical structures. The author further elucidates that the fictional world represented by the medium is a metaphoric description that needs consideration of rhetoric.
