Abstract

The article presents a study that looks into the condition of the freshwater fish species Coregonus autumnalis pollan in the Lough Ree Lake in the island of Ireland using systematic hydroacoustic survey. It discusses the distribution, the conservation initiatives, and the unestablished population of pollan. The results indicate a larger population of pollan with one large shoal containing up to 6000 fish>10 cm in length more than previously assumed by the European Union Habitats Directive
