Abstract

The article discusses the case of a male teen-aged football player diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) during a routine pre-participation cardiovascular screening. In this case, regurgitation and/or stenosis were absent. There was also no dilated initial aorta and no anomalous origin of coronary arteries. Management recommendations include authorizing full competitive activity, but educating the patient and the coaching staff for personal cardiac symptoms.
