Abstract

The article discusses a study in the northern cropping region of eastern Australia that pinpoints key management techniques for high yielding irrigated wheat in both high and low soil-nitrogen fields. Through the selection of varieties that have the highest yield potential and disease resistance, wheat yields of eight tonnes per hectare can reportedly be attained. It is also critical to pinpoint starting soil-N in order to manage water and nitrogen availability during the growing season.
