Abstract
- The article discusses the impact of the collection of Bergenia ciliata and Dendrobium orchid from the wild in the village of Deurali in the Makawanpur district of Nepal, sometimes offered to British gardeners on their survival and the biocultural diversity of the area. Bergenia used to be collected by the Tamang people for their personal medicinal use but harvesting has stopped as little if any profit is made from its trade, resulting in it not being endangered by overexploitation.
