Abstract

This article examines the constitutions of Spain and Bolivia in 1812 and 1826, respectively. The author provides a brief constitutional history of each country leading up to the drafting of these documents. He also describes the liberal characteristics and ideals espoused by each constitution. A comparative analysis of the historical documents is provided, in which it is concluded that the Spanish Constitution of 1812 did not influence the Bolivian Constitution of 1826, despite their similarities.
