Abstract
- The article profiles Canterbury, New Zealand dairy farmer Athol New. New earned his Bachelor of Commerce in 2006 and has worked with Synlait since then. He was chosen as top farm manager in 2011 and has also won second place in the Canterbury-North Otago Farm Manager competition. He helped launch a program designed to cut the incidence rate of clinical mastitis among herds. The program involves using teatseal on heifers, using dry cow therapy, staff training, teat spray and teat spaying.
