HISTORICAL MEMORY RESEARCH IN SLOVAKIA.

The article discusses the history of collective memory research in Slovakia from 1918 through 2012. Slovak historians' research of themes, including national memorials, national heroes, street names, national mythology, Slovak folk songs and poems, historical photographs and symbols, in order to study the relationship between Slovak national identity and collective memory is discussed. An overview of the role that the social sciences and multidisciplinary studies play in Slovak historians' historiographical work is provided.
