Abstract

The muddy soil in the bucket foundation should be reinforced to achieve bearing capacity requirements of bucket foundation in muddy soil. Vacuum method and vacuum electro-osmosis method are employed to reinforce the models of 300 mm and 600 mm diameter bucket foundations. The test results show that the diameter variation has little effect on the final reinforcing effect of muddy soil using vacuum method. Compared with vacuum method, vacuum electro-osmosis method is more effective for the reinforcement of bucket foundation, and the electro-osmosis reinforcing effect is more evident with the increase of the bucket diameter. And analytical results indicate that there is a reasonable time point of power-on. At the time point, good effects of soil treatment can be achieved and excessive energy loss is avoided.
