Abstract
- The article focuses on the decline in the average capacity factor of power reactors in the U.S. It cites the closure of Dominion Generation's Kewaunee and Duke Energy's Crystal River-3 reactors. The median capacity factor of power reactors was 89.56 percent in 2010-2012, which is lower than the capacity factor achieved in 2007-2009. A total of 40 reactors have higher capacity factors in 2010-2012 an 64 had lower factors due to refueling outages.
