Abstract

The article focuses on the potential of e-book business models for public libraries. Various business models have been used to support marketing of e-books into those libraries including the Store Front, Short Embargo with Premium Pricing Available and Preview Model. The benefits and limitations of e-book business models to libraries and publishers including single user, limited number of loans, and replication of the print book business models. Digitization of printed books was also addressed, where it began with the Rocket e-Book and Peanut Press.
