Abstract
- The article discusses three experiments conducted to investigate the ability of the insulation materials expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS) and Foamglass to resist excavation by carpenter ants. It mentions that experiments investigated initiation of nest construction, ability to withstand nest construction and effect of temperature on establishment. The experiment concluded that Foamglass T4+ was more capable of withstanding carpenter ant establishment.
