Abstract

The article discusses the history of the Native American art of buckskin clothing. Topics addressed include European influences, regional/tribal adaptations, and the various types of garments made from buckskin. In addition, brief profiles are presented of contemporary buckskin artisans including Beverly (Bear King) Moran, Jerry Ingram and Holly Joseph.
