Abstract
- The article profiles Putaruru, New Zealand dairy farm manager Sarah Beaven. The 23-year-old Beaven manages an 800-cow farm, making her one of the few young and female farm managers in the country. The dairy farmer organization DairyNZ reports that about 18 percent of onfarm employees and around 21 percent of national farm managers in the country are female. Beaven reveals that it can be a challenge to be a woman and young in dairy farming, particularly when dealing with suppliers.
