Abstract

The article presents a study which discusses the federal public policy called the Escola Ativa (Active School) Program (EAP) addressed to multi-seriated country schools in State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It says that an ethnomathematics perspective based from the works of Foucault and Wittgenstein was the theoretical framework of the study. It adds that a tension between the activities proposed by students and pedagogical guidelines offered to teachers was disclosed by the analysis.
