Abstract
- The article reports on the moving of a white middle-class South African family into a black township in South Africa in August 2013. The Hewitts reportedly wanted to learn survival on 10 dollars a day in living conditions that millions of black South Africans endure everyday. The article states that the experiment allowed the children to learn crossing the country's race and class boundaries, and that it was lauded as a way of better understanding, but was also viewed as a publicity stunt.
