Abstract

Abstract: Reliable water forecasting provides the basis for making operational, tactical and strategic decisions for water utilities. The aim of this paper is to present the results of a spatial and temporal forecasting of water consumption patterns that has been carried out at the District Metered Area (DMA) level. Flow, infrastructure and billing data were collected from water utilities and combined with recently published census data. Results include empiric relations for estimating design and operational parameters for different seasonal and weekday scenarios, as well as average demand patterns for different consumer profiles taking into consideration key variables.
