Abstract

The article focuses on French socialist Auguste Blanqui in the 19th century. Topics discussed include his philosophy of revolutionary voluntarism, his view of "scientific" determinism and critique of ideologies of progress of the Enlightenment. It also mentions his rejection of advocacy on progress by the positivists, his prophetic words on the destruction of the natural environment of capitalists and his view of Protestantism as embodying the spirit of capitalism.
