Abstract

The article discusses a research study which examined the size and retention of breeding territories of Yellow-billed Loons, Gavia adamsii, in Alaska and Canada. Topics covered are the mean territory radius for the breeding populations within the Seward Peninsula in northwest Alaska, within the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska, and within Daring Lake in mainland Canada, as well as the relationship of territory retention to early arrival dates at the breeding site.
