Abstract

Highlights: [•] Five bottlenecks constrain the uptake of adaptation research in adaptation policy and practice. [•] Analysis of the bottlenecks confirms and reinforces the weakness of the linear model of science-policy interaction. [•] An actor-oriented approach to adaptation research can help to overcome the bottlenecks. [•] Climate adaptation often addresses both the impacts of climate change and the consequences of climate policy. [•] New methods in modelling and visualisation and in policy analysis can better reflect and support adaptation action. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
