« JE LE MIS PAR MÉMOIRES À MON RETOUR » : GENÈSES EDITORIALES DU RÉCIT DE VOYAGE À LA RENAISSANCE.

The article focuses on the origins of European travel narratives during the Renaissance and examines several aspects including the composition, editing, and publishing process, recurring writing methods, and authorship. The narratives' social and historical dimensions are analyzed. It discusses the relationship between the traveler and the writer, the role of an editor, and the functions of a bookseller/publisher. Topics mentioned include Henri de Feynes who traveled to China, French author and traveler Jean de Léry and his récit de publication, or publication narrative, from 1578, and the preface written by the author of the 16th century book "Voyages du seigneur de Villamont" Jacques de Villamont.
