Abstract
- The article offers information on the death sentence of Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, and dramatist Lucius Annaeus Seneca in 65 CE and its illustration by painter Peter Paul Rubens in his work entitled "The Dying Seneca." Topics discussed include the accusation of Roman Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus against Seneca, his execution by a centurion, and his philosophy of life. Also provided is information on how Rubens illustrated the philosopher's image in his painting.
