Abstract

The article discusses some digging accidents in the U.S. including a damaged gas line caused by a subcontractor forcing the evacuation of a condominium complex in Kansas City, Missouri on March 2, 2013. It notes the plastic gas line leak caused by a contractor while attempting to bore a conduit killing one and injured 15 at JJ's Restaurant in the state. It also discusses the largest percentage consumed by utilities and their contractors in the 811 utilities protection service of Michigan.
