Abstract

A series of bi-valent metal complexes of 5-amino-l-β-D-ribofuranosylimida-zole-4-carboxylic acid and its 5'-phosphate derivative (CAIR), a central intermediate in de novo biosynthesis of purine nucleotides have been synthesised. The nucleotide complexes were found to affect the activity of the enzyme phosphoribosylaminoimidazole carboxylase (EC. 4.1.1.21).
