Abstract

Summary By means of the long-term radio blood pressure telemetry it could be demonstrated in 26 hypertensive patients that the basal blood pressure (Smirk) is determined identically—systolic and diastolic—by a modification of the so-called “relaxing” blood pressure (Meesmann). There exists a poor correlation between the basal blood pressure and the lowest value during sleep, as well as the blood pressure readings under everyday physical activity. The still closest correlation could be demonstrated to a casual blood pressure picked out more arbitrarily; the casual blood pressure—especially as mean of several readings—seems to give the most reliable information about the severity of the individual hypertensive disease.
