Abstract

1.It was established that the phenomenon of sensitization by chlorine exists when propane is oxidized in vessels containing a packing. This effect is due to activation of the vessel surface and of the packing during the progress of catalyzed oxidation. The activation of the surface is retained for a long time and secures the catalyzed oxidation of propane in the absence of chlorine.2.Data were obtained on the yields of aldehydes obtained when propane is oxidized in vessels, containing a packing, at different temperatures and with different amounts of added chlorine.
