Abstract

A novel method for the synthesis of 1,2dihydro5arylnaphtho2,1c2,7naphthyridine derivatives via a threecomponent reaction of aromatic aldehyde, naphthalen2amine, and Nsubstituted piperidin4one derivatives is described using 5 mol iodine as catalyst. The features of this new procedure are mild reaction condition, high yield, operational simplicity, and uses available reactants. J. Heterocyclic Chem., 2009.
