Abstract

A new heterocyclic bioreductive bisalkylating agent, 2,3bischloromethylbenzogquinoxaline5,10dione, was prepared in a foursteps synthesis. It was shown to react under electron transfer conditions with 2nitropropane anion by an bisSRN1 mechanism to give three Calkylation products in excellent yields. Extension of this bisSRN1 reaction to various nitronate or malonate anions and Scentered anions led to a new class of potentially active benzogquinoxaline5,10dione derivatives.
