Using an Enzyme's Active Site To Template Inhibitors

The irreversible formationof carbonic anhydrase inhibitors from competing building block precursors is templated by the active site of the enzyme itself. The reagents are brought into close proximity of each other in a ternary complex with the enzyme (see scheme).
