Abstract
- Fungal peritonitis is a relatively uncommon infection in peritoneal dialysis patients. However, it can be associated with significant morbimortality. In recent reports, Candidaspecies and other filamentous fungi have been reported as being aetiological agents. Thermoascusspecies are ubiquitous, thermophilic fungi, with an anamorph in the Paecilomycesgenus. Here we present the first report of fungal peritonitis by Thermoascus crustaceusfrom Chile.
