Magnesium Complexes of Bis(phosphinimine)methane and -methanide Ligands

Abstract

Mg complexes of bis(phosphoranimine)methane and -methanide ligands have been characterized. Reaction of CH<INF>2</INF>(Ph<INF>2</INF>PNSiMe<INF>3</INF>)<INF>2</INF><BO><INF> </INF></BO><INF></INF>with MeMgI and MeMgCl gave the crystalline products CH<INF>2</INF>(Ph<INF>2</INF>PNSiMe<INF>3</INF>)<INF>2</INF>MgI<INF>2</INF> (<BO>1</BO>) and [HC(Ph<INF>2</INF>PNSiMe<INF>3</INF>)<INF>2</INF>Mg(μ-Cl)]<INF>2</INF> (<BO>2</BO>), respectively. The related reaction of LiCH(Ph<INF>2</INF>PNSiMe<INF>3</INF>)<INF>2</INF> with MeMgI afforded CH(Ph<INF>2</INF>PNSiMe<INF>3</INF>)<INF>2</INF>MgI(THF) (<BO>3</BO>). Crystallographic data for <BO>1</BO>−<BO>3 </BO>confirm a significant Mg−C interaction in complexes containing bis(phosphoranimine)methanide ligands.
