Abstract

•Impregnation of zinc and silver nanoparticles on cotton fiber.•The cellulose-nanoparticle composite material is further assessed for removal of metal ions from aqueous medium.•The significant efficiency of synthesized material to remove metal ions can be exploited in wastewater filtration process.
