Abstract

•Stenosis >50% is present in only 10% of patients with cerebrovascular disease.•Ulcerations have found in 21% of patients studied with a cerebrovascular disease.•Carotid doppler ultrasound had 0% of sensibility to detect ulceration.•Diagnostic cerebral angiography continues the gold standard to carotid disease.
