Abstract

The high-efficiency III-V triple-junction solar cell device consists of GaInP/GaInAs/Ge, made from different semiconductor materials. Thus, via incorporating these materials with different energy band gaps, the consequence is reducing the thermalisation losses and increases in cell conversion efficiency. It is lattice matching and monolithically stacked to gain high conversion efficiency. In this work, CPV receiver performance behaviour is predicted as a function of various Tamb, AMand DNIvalues through integrating a thermal-electrical model. Hence, weather data measuring of DNI, AM, Tambfor three days at the unclouded and cloudy sky is profiteering to evaluate triple-junction solar cell performance at such conditions. Therefore, in real operating conditions daily, this value varies with time from sunrise to sunset, and the maximum values reach noon hours. The results have shown a variation in thermal-electrical performance parameters and energy production on small/large scale operating. For optimum performance, these environmental parameters needed to be considered: (i) the low values of Tamb; (ii) the low values of AM, (iii) the corresponding high values of DNIat clear/cloudy sky conditions.
