Abstract
- Kilogram-scale syntheses of fragments C<INF>1</INF><INF>-</INF><INF>6</INF> (<BO>6</BO>) and C<INF>9</INF><INF>-</INF><INF>14</INF> (<BO>4</BO>) of (+)-discodermolide from common precursor <BO>3</BO> are described. Improved procedures for each step of both fragments were developed by minimizing or eliminating the formation of byproducts that were isolated and characterized in Smith's synthesis.
