Abstract

ABSTRACTInsertion sequence IS900is used as a target for the identification of Mycobacterium aviumsubsp. paratuberculosis.Previous reports have revealed single nucleotide polymorphisms within IS900. This study, which analyzed the IS900sequences of a panel of isolates representing M. aviumsubsp. paratuberculosisstrain types I, II, and III, revealed conserved type-specific polymorphisms that could be utilized as a tool for diagnostic and epidemiological purposes.
