Abstract

(BJOG. 2021;128:922–932. doi: 10.1111/1471-0528.16512. Epub November 4, 2020)Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of maternal mortality. Severe maternal morbidity can drastically reduce quality of life, increase hospital lengths of stay, adversely impact finances, and lead to maternal mortality. Thus, it is critical to identify women at high risk for cardiovascular severe maternal morbidity (CSMM) during pregnancy and postpartum and develop strategies to mitigate its adverse effects. This study aims to create and validate risk prediction models so high-risk women can be more accurately identified.
