Abstract

•Genome-wide analysis of chickpeas was performed to identify salt-stress-responsive genes.•Eight salt stress-responsive NHX genes were identified in chickpeas.•CaNHX3and CaNHX7gene showed more salt tolerance in chickpeas.•Protein-conserved motifs and domains were localized in the plasma membrane.
