Abstract
- Accurate and timely fault diagnosis of the rotating rectifier in aircraft wound-rotor synchronous starter/generator (WRSSG) is very important for improving system reliability. Through the analysis of the stator excitation current of the main exciter (ME) with the rotating rectifier under various working conditions (healthy, open-circuit fault, and short-circuit fault), a novel fault diagnosis method of the rotating rectifier based on ME excitation current amplitude is proposed in this article. In this method, the sum of squared stator currents of the ME is calculated and the position corresponding to the maximum current is obtained, and they are used to calculate the ratio for fault detection. The proposed fault diagnosis method is the first rotating rectifier diode fault diagnosis method that can be applied in the stationary, startup, and generation processes of the system. The experiment results verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
