Abstract

Automated driving is expected to change the transport system and way we travel and thus have impacts on our society. Solutions through which automated driving is accelerated, enhanced or enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT), are developed and tested in the AUTOPILOT project under the European H2020 programme. This paper describes a comprehensive methodology for evaluating the impact of connected automated driving on quality of life in terms of personal mobility, well-being, traffic safety, traffic efficiency and the environment, including test experiences and data, expert views and modelling. A comprehensive methodology framework is developed taking into account direct and indirect impacts on users and the society, by considering the most important impact mechanisms affecting quality of life in connected automated driving. The methodology is applied to the case example automated valet parking (AVP).
