Abstract

Kidney transplantation remain the preffered treatment for end stage renal disease. Among the surgical complications, vascular complications have the strongest influence on graft- but also on patient-survival. We retrospectively analyzed 885 kidney transplantations performed in our centre between 1971-2008. Vascular complications were noticed in 62 (7, 0%) patients. Arterial stenosis (23 patients – 2, 6%) and arterial bleeding (20 patients – 2, 3%) were the most frequent complications. Graft loss as consequence of vascular conplications was find in 24 (2, 7%) patients and 3 (0, 3%) patients died. Vascular complications is not frequent in our kidney transplant recipients but their presence increased chance for graft loss or even death.
