Abstract

The diversity, species composition and structure of the fish community were studied in the middle part of Drava River in Croatia. Impacts of three hydroelectric power plants with their reservoirs on fish communities are described. Over a period of twenty-one years 28, 937 fish specimens were collected, which includes 56 different fish species belonging to 16 families. The family Cyprinidae is represented by 31 species, family Percidae by 7 species and the Salmonidae by 3 species, while the remaining families were represented by one to two species. Within the reservoirs, the Bream was the dominant fish species. The other important fish species on this part of Drava River are Roach, Bleak, Chub, Ruffe, Perch and Vimba.
