Abstract

Technology has always been important to economic wellbeing, so the key elements in the catching– up process are technologies, innovations and privatisation. As technology professionals, we not only need to realise these potential impacts and influences but also need to deal seriously with these impacts and influences. This paper investigates the causal relationship between the technology strategy and the technology structure of a company in the context of industrial competitiveness and growth. This article deals with four main questions. What industry strategy is needed to effect successful technology transfer? Are there any differences in industry structure and the activities of a company with respect to national technology policy? Is there convergence in issues and perspectives in technology policy and strategy analysis between developed and developing countries in a globalised economy? In which cases does the type of relationship between domestic and "global" economy encourage the "virtuous" circle?
