La ventana: un refugio encontrado

[ES] La ventana es un elemento central en la historia de la arquitectura. Limita y conecta el interior y el exterior del edificio, compone su fachada y aporta a quien lo habita luz, aire, vistas y relación con su entorno físico y social. No obstante, en la ciudad contemporánea, la forma de vida del ciudadano estándar, caracterizada por la aceleración y centrada en la productividad, relega a un segundo plano, sobre todo en el ámbito doméstico, los aspectos menos funcionales de esta relación. Este hecho se refleja en las normativas actuales que, en general, contemplan únicamente variables cuantitativas en relación con las ventanas. Sin embargo, circunstancias extraordinarias como las que ahora atravesamos (pero también situaciones de conflicto, de festividad o de catástrofe) obligan a encontrar otras formas de relación del habitante con la ventana y, a través ella, entre el espacio doméstico y el espacio público. Relaciones que, en algunos aspectos, ya se dan para sectores de la ciudadanía fuera del estándar (personas encargadas de tareas domésticas y de cuidados o personas dependientes), y que, en otros, generan dinámicas completamente nuevas para el conjunto de la población. La ventana como refugio, como lugar de evasión, como espacio de privacidad paradójica, como lugar de socialización, como espacio habitado En este trabajo se explorarán y estudiarán estas dinámicas con el fin de reconocerlas, caracterizarlas y definir su potencial como futuras herramientas proyectuales.
[EN] The window is a central element in the history of architecture. It limits and connects the interior and exterior of the building, composes its facade and brings light, air, views and a relationship with its physical and social environment to those who inhabit it. However, in the contemporary city, the standard citizen lifestyle, characterized by acceleration and focused on productivity, relegates to the background, especially in the domestic realm, the less functional aspects of this relationship. This fact, this is reflected in the current normatives, which, in general, only consider quantitative variables in relation to windows. However, extraordinary circumstances such as those we are currently going through (but also situations of conflict, festivity or catastrophe) force the inhabitants of the houses to find other forms of relationship between themselfs and the window, and through it, between the domestic space and the public space. Relationships that, in some aspects, already existed for non-standard sectors of citizenship (people in charge of domestic and care tasks or dependent people), and that, in others, generate completely new dynamics for the population as a whole. The window as a haven, as a place of escape, as a space of paradoxical privacy, as a place of socialization, as an inhabited space ... In this work these dynamics will be explored and studied in order to recognize them, characterize them and define their potential as future project tools.
