Los debates Zapatero /vs/ Rajoy de 2008. Claves discursivas de una victoria

En la campaña electoral previa a las elecciones generales españolas de marzo de 2008, los sondeos celebrados tras los dos debates electorales entre el candidato socialista, J. L. Rodríguez Zapatero, y el candidato conservador, M. Rajoy, dieron la victoria al primero de ellos. El presente trabajo analiza aquellos debates para hallar puntos fuertes y puntos débiles en la actitud discursiva de los oradores y desentrañar, así, las claves de dicha victoria. El análisis se realiza en tres planos: en primer lugar se analizan los tipos de contenido y la estructura de las intervenciones de los oradores; en segundo lugar, la firmeza o debilidad discursiva y la velocidad en la elocución; por último, cuestiones de imagen. En el conjunto de la investigación se combina una metodología cuantitativa con análisis de índole cualitativa.
In the election campaign before the Spanish general elections of March 2008, the surveys conducted after the electoral debate between the Socialist candidate, J. L. Rodríguez Zapatero, and the Conservative candidate M. Rajoy, presaged that the former would be the victor. This paper analyses these debates in order to find strong and weak points in the discursive attitude of these orators and, in this way, unravel the keys to the aforementioned victory. This analysis is three-fold: first the types of content and the structure of the orators’ interventions are studied; secondly, the discursive firmness or weakness and the speed of diction are examined; and lastly, the issue of image is analysed. The whole of this research project combines quantitative methodology with a qualitative type of analysis.
