Abstract

Hip fracture is a major public health problem in the elderly due to the high incidence, the outcomes and the cost of this pathology. The loss of function and the high likelihood of mortality even one year after the fracture show the need for new strategies of treatment for these patients. The overall aims of this thesis, which comprises three studies (one published and two in review), including a total of 275 patients, were to determine the functional outcomes, the mortality, and the factors influencing these outcomes, within one year after hip fracture surgery.<br />Tesis Univ.
