The way how they are perceived by the society and individuals has a great influence on the actions that are taken and on the relationship between health professionals and patients. Accurate information and dialogue are not only crucial for patients choosing freely among different options but for a better understanding as well, both of the disease and the human being behind.
Las enfermedades tienen connotaciones que van más allá del proceso mórbido que comportan. La forma en que son interpretadas por la sociedad y los individuos tiene relevancia en las actuaciones y en la forma en que profesionales sanitarios y pacientes se relacionaran. Una información adecuada y el diálogo entre los diferentes actores que intervienen en esa relación son claves no sólo para que las personas tomen decisiones libres sino también para un mejor entendimiento no ya sólo de la enfermedad sino también de la persona que padece la enfermedad.
