La ciencia y la cultura científica

The concepts of science and scientific culture are clearly distinguished in this article, and a new model of scientific culture is proposed. The model allows analysing the meaning and implications of famous debates about scientific and humanistic culture, like that produced by Snow lecture in 1959, or like the controversy between Ortega y Gasset and Unamuno at the beginning of the 20th century. The need to actively promote the development of a scientific culture adapted to the real state of science derives as a conclusion from this analysis.
Se establece una distinción clara entre los conceptos de ciencia y de cultura científica y se propone un modelo de cultura científica que permite analizar el sentido y las implicaciones de conocidas controversias en torno a la cultura científica, como la que abrió Snow con su conferencia sobre las dos culturas o la que enfrentó a comienzos del siglo xx a Ortega y Gasset y Unamuno. A partir de este análisis se apunta como conclusión la necesidad de promover activamente el desarrollo de una cultura científica adecuada al estado real de la ciencia
